Arts Company Engages Disabled People [UK]

Belfast arts and disability group Open Arts to host a day engaging disabled people with arts activities.

The Dance Development Day in Newry on Wednesday 8th September is part of a series of workshops across the country from the Luminous Soul Dance Project, created by Open Arts.

Luminous Soul is one of six projects comprising the Northern Ireland Connections programme funded by the Legacy Trust UK which was established to create a cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Luminous Soul offer disabled people from Northern Ireland the opportunity to meet and work with professional disabled tutors from across the UK.

Kate Ingram from Open Arts said:

"Through Luminous Soul we hope to identify and train disabled people who have real potential to dance in a professional company or to be dance teachers.

"This is the first time disabled people in Northern Ireland have been offered an opportunity of this sort.
